U2 will not perform in Chile during the Latin American leg of their 2027 world tour, ending a tradition that has seen the Irish rock band visit the country on every previous regional tour.
The band announced six concerts on October 15, with shows scheduled in Mexico City, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires. Negotiations to bring U2 back to Santiago had reportedly been underway since 2025 but ended without an agreement.
Scheduling restrictions at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional may have complicated the plans. The venue has increasingly prioritized sporting events, although its availability has not been confirmed as the reason negotiations failed.
U2 has performed in Chile four times, beginning with the PopMart Tour in 1998. The band returned in 2006, 2011, and 2017, with every concert taking place at Estadio Nacional.
The upcoming Greatest Show on Earth World Tour will celebrate U2’s 50th anniversary and support their new album, Carnaval de Luz, scheduled for release on November 13, 2026.
Beck will open all six announced Latin American concerts.
