I made it! Your suposed to be moved into the 52nd Cavelcade of Customs by 9pm, and I got to the Duke Energy Center at 8:30pm. We were working on the truck up until the last min. The truck didn't see any primer until 1am Thurs morning, and recieved it's 2nd and final coat about 3pm Thurs afternoon. The truck still had bondo dust and sanding sludge on it, and the primer was dring at the conv. center!
This truck has come along way in just a couple short months. After starting with only a 82 year old truck cab that was in really bad shape, we now have a hot rod starting to take shape. You can now see how the old girl is gonna stand. How muck rake she has, and if it is enough. If she is low enough, or how the chop blends in.
Come on down to the show and check the truck out in person, and of corse continue to check back offen to my blog.

Running out of time fast! Load in day for the CoC is on the 12th and I think I will be working on the truck as it is rolling downtown. We did start slinging some bondo, and Ryan got the cab corners done. We will keep busting ass! No Rest for the Wicked!

The Hot Rod build continues as time is quickly running out. With less than a month before the 2012 Cavelcade there is still mass to do.
The doors on the old girl have been giving us hell! Ryan has been fighting them for days. When I got the cab the floor was in it at an angle. A good 4 inches higher in the rear than in the front. this wasn't gonna work. Once the floor was cut loose to get it down where it belongs, the doors went crazy. I has been a job to get the doors fitting again. The cab was in pretty bad shape. Ryan is on the cab and I am now working on rebuilding the bed. There is mass rust to cut out and fix on the old bed.
The good news is I got the radiator, grille shell, hood sides, and dash mounted and done. Ryan fixed the tailgate on the bed, so it is good togo.
The goal is to be slinging mud by mid next week. I should say deadline.

I am heading back out to the shop, Carl

I know, I am late with my post. I have been busting my ass working on this project and just haven't had time to sit down and load some pictures.
The truck is well into stage 2 now. The bed is mounted. The front of the cab has been mounted, but still needs the flooor fixxed before it can be completely mounted. The rear of the frame needed to be cut to match the bed line and turned out nice. Right now I am working on the firewall and floor. I have to get everything mounted firmly before any body work can begin.
I am taking the bed to the painters today after work. My long time good friend Ryan, is one hell of a painter and one hard ass worker! Ryan gets shit done and has stepped up to help me with all the body work and lay down a slick paint job. Ryan wants to get started on patching all the rust areas, and there is plenty in a 81 year old bed.

Well another week gone, but things are coming together very nice. Stage 1, which is a rolling chassis, is almost complete. All fab work is done on the chassis, and all that is left is for Jo to finish up all the welding. There is alot of welding to be done! Jo has at least a full day if not more just welding up all the parts and chassis. The engine mounts and the four-link turned out killer! The chassis bracing and driveshaft loop are bad ass!
I did pick up a 1930 truck bed last week. It is in rough shape but you just can't find these things anymore. I was just gonna fab up a new bed, but it wouldn't be real. Now I have a real Ford bed. I will get some more picts of the body and bed up this week.
If all goes well, stage 2 will start this weekend, which is mounting the cab and bed to the chassis and fabing a hood and hood sides. Have to mount the brake and clutch petals and fab the steering. Lots of work still to do!
Godspeed

So I have been hard at it on the old hot rod. The chassis is now off the frame table and close to being finished. There are still some engine mounts to make and wishbones for the rear end. I need to chop a little more off the front of the frame. (my dumb ass didn't think about the radius that the axle travels and under load the front axle will hit the chassis) The car is coming together real nice. I have made some changes as far as the style goes. I was going to run a 4" drop I-beam front axle, but now I am gonna roll a stock 1932 Ford axle. The 32 axle looks way cooler tucked up under the grill shell. It is a complete different set up to run either axle. So more work, but well worth it. I do owe my friend Jo Kerr the credit for making me see the light on which axle to roll with. He had the great idea for the bottom shock mounts too. Check out the pictures, spend a little time and really look at them. You can see how much detail and work goes into each little part. Check out the shop in the background. That is Jo's Model A Coupe by the garage door in the one pict. There are some pictures of machines used to make some of the parts. I like to make every part I can. If I don't know how, I figure it out. Jo is very skilled, he knows how to make just about anything, he is the best welder I know, and the two of us together can usually figure it out. I do enjoy working with the tools and machines at JoKerr Fab.
Check back offen for there is lots more to come! My goal is to have the car done by Cavalcade. The car might not run and drive, but I want to have the car itself able to be seen at the show. I can rebuild the engine and tranny, wire, and get the car driving between the show and spring. Gotta have goals or ya won't get crap done!
Godspeed

Some NEW Hot Rod Picts
.
The new project is well under way. This time around it will be a 1930 Ford Pick-Up on a pinched 1932 frame. This means there won't be any frame horns in front of the grill shell. The frame is pinched almost 6 inches till it meets the grill flush. The axle will be right under the grill, with the spring behind the axle mounted in a model-a crossmember. I will use split wishbones front and back. The rear is a 8 inch Ford suspended by a 1940 Ford front spring hung in a 1932 crossmember. The engine will be a Ford 2300 four-banger through a 5-speed trans. I am gonna run a hood and hood sides with a 1932 grill.
.
I began the build in Indy at a real good friend of mine's hot rod shop JoKerr Fabercation. Jo and I have grown up and raced together since high school. I built my first 2 hot rods at Jo's shop when it was here in Cincy. Jo was building choppers at the time, but he made room for me to build my cars. Jo has every machine needed and is one hell of a welder. If I need something to not break, I get Jo to weld it. I am really stoked this time because Jo is building the car with me, and at his shop in Indy. It is killer working with someone who knows whats going on! My first 2 cars I built by myself, but this is way more fun! We made some mounts for his frame jig, and have the chassis just about done. All that is really left is a tranny mount and some wishbone mounts.
.
click READ MORE for some updated pictures. Some of the cab and chassis.
.
Stick with me for the build, It's gonna be tire burning fun!
